1. About this service
Deed Poll UK is a trading name of Nanoswift Ltd. Nanoswift Ltd provides an online tool that generates a correctly formatted UK deed poll document in PDF format. By using this service you agree to these terms in full.
We are not a law firm and we do not provide legal advice. A deed poll generated by this service is a standard-form legal document; it is your responsibility to ensure the information you enter is accurate and that the document is executed correctly (signed in front of two witnesses).
2. The service we provide
The fee of £14.99 is charged for the generation, formatting, and instant delivery of your deed poll as a downloadable PDF. You are not paying for legal advice, legal representation, or any service beyond document generation.
Deed polls are free to create yourself using wording available in the public domain. You are paying for the convenience of this service producing a correctly formatted document for you instantly.
Optional add-ons may be offered at checkout — a pack of notification letters, and a “printed & posted” service where we print your deed poll (and your letters, if bought) on heavyweight paper and post them to you by Royal Mail 1st Class. These are priced separately and shown clearly before you pay.
3. Refunds and your right to cancel
Because the service delivers a digital document that is made available to you immediately upon payment, and because that document is generated specifically using personal data you have provided, we are unable to offer refunds once the document has been made available for download.
Before paying, you are asked to tick a box confirming that you want your deed poll generated and downloaded immediately, and that you understand you will lose your right to cancel and to a refund once the download has started. By ticking that box you give your express consent to the immediate supply of the digital content and you acknowledge that you lose your statutory right to cancel. We record this consent, together with the date and time it was given.
This reflects the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, under which the 14-day right to cancel does not apply to digital content that has been supplied where you gave prior express consent to immediate supply and acknowledged that the right to cancel would be lost.
If your document contains an error caused by a fault on our part (not data you entered incorrectly), please contact us and we will regenerate it at no charge.
Printed and posted copies are made to order using the personal details you provide. Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, goods that are made to your specification or are clearly personalised are exempt from the 14-day right to cancel, so printed copies cannot be returned or refunded once your order is placed. This does not affect your rights if the goods arrive faulty or not as described. Printing your deed poll yourself is always free — the printed & posted service is an optional convenience. We dispatch printed orders the next working day; delivery is then handled by Royal Mail.
4. Your responsibilities
You are responsible for:
- Ensuring all information you enter is accurate and complete before payment
- Signing the deed poll in the presence of two adult witnesses who are not related to you and are not changing their name
- Having both witnesses sign and print their names and addresses on the document
- Notifying relevant organisations of your name change yourself; this service does not do that on your behalf
5. Limitations of liability
We warrant that the document generated will be correctly formatted as a standard UK deed poll. We do not warrant that any particular organisation (bank, DVLA, Passport Office, etc.) will accept it, as acceptance policies vary and are outside our control.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability to you in connection with this service shall not exceed the amount you paid for the document (£14.99).
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other matter that cannot be excluded by law.
6. Intellectual property
The deed poll text generated for you is a standard-form legal document in the public domain. You are free to use, print, and reproduce it as needed for your name change. The software, design, and other content on this website remain our property.
7. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
8. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The version in force at the time of your purchase governs your transaction. Material changes will be reflected in the "last updated" date above.
